This event has four, eight-man, individual net, match-play brackets for 2026 (32 players), with each bracket winner qualifying for the playoffs to determine Homestead’s Men’s Club Match Play Champion. The four brackets are:
Each match-play bracket is single-elimination. $25 entry fee. Payouts to the top four players in each bracket, with all payouts in cash! ($100 / $50 / $25 / $25). Random bracket positions will be drawn once the field of 32 players has been established. Each bracket winner also receives a trophy and qualifies for the playoffs to determine Homestead’s Men’s Golf Club Individual Match Play Champion. The overall winner receives $50 and has his name engraved on our Men’s Club Match Play plaque! Second place receives $25. This extra $75 in cash-payouts is provided by the Homestead Men’s Club.
First-round matches should be completed by June 15, semi-final matches by July 31, and the four bracket final matches by Labor Day weekend (Sept 7). Playoffs will be held in September (and October if necessary). Failure to complete your first match by June 15 could lead to a single or double forfeit if it’s determined a player (or both players) has not made legitimate effort to schedule their match. Please be responsible for contacting your opponent in a timely fashion so you can set up your matches. Thanks for your help with this!
All matches are played according to the current USGA Rules of Golf, including Rule 2 regarding Match Play. Please note the rules and penalties for Match Play can differ from Stroke Play, so if you have any questions please ask. It’s not complicated, just slightly different. And please remember you can give putts just like on TV!!
When setting up scoring for your match, subtract the player who has the lower course handicap from the player with the higher handicap, with the difference being the strokes given for the match. Strokes are given to the higher handicap player on the corresponding hardest handicap holes, as noted on our 2026 Homestead Men’s Club scorecard. For all matches, please use the Homestead Blue Tees at 100% for determining your handicaps. Highly recommend downloading the GHIN app on your phone.
If your match is tied after 18 holes, please continue to “sudden death” on the first or 10th hole, at the starter’s discretion. Strokes fall where they may. If the course is not available (darkness, weather, full course) please arrange to finish your match as soon as possible. Please contact Ron Hilsenhoff ronhilsenhoff@yahoo.com or text (720-251-9518) with your match results or if you have any questions.
